Sharon Kinchela, has a solid and varied professional work history in senior leadership positions within Queensland Government, as a Regional Director, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships. In 2009, she was Policy Advisor to the Hon. Minister Karen Struthers, then Minister for Housing and Homelessness, Community Services and Minister for Women. During my time working in remote, discrete and regional communities, she was instrumental in establishing the Pormpuraaw Healing Centre, Cape York, Qld and also advocating widely for more healing for our people. On an international level she has undertaken capacity building work with the First Nation People of Manitoba, Canada.

Sharon is an experienced Facilitator and Public Speaker. She has established NGO’s, participated on Boards, strengthened governance structures, service accreditation and compliance. Sharon has demonstrated history of working in community development, capacity building and the wellness space and this has been her speciality and lifelong passion for equality for our people. She is highly skilled in reading the environmental, community and political (black and white) landscape to enable strategic positioning, policy development and community engagement. All of Sharon’s work history to date and future centres on the empowerment and inclusion of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people – our people.
